It is a rare variety of Pectolite
a phenomenon that occurs when light hits the chips of silica inside the gemstone and a rainbow of different colors refract inside the stone
including to ward off illness and the Plague
was inspired by the stone and chose it for the interior decorations of Marlborough House in England
