An Observer’s Badge, Early Example, by Paul Meybauer consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac 1914-15 Star (S-5502(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in position, with a wide barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked P. MEYBAUER, BERLIN, measuring 52. 20 mm (w) x 52. 60 mm (h), weighing 44.
